You Are Powerful: Students March For Change

On Monday, April 18th, students here at City High Middle school in Grand Rapids Michigan stood up en masse and walked out of class to demand justice for Patrick Lyoya, who was unarmed when he was shot and killed by a GRPD officer two weeks prior.

City students have organized protests on campus before, including in 2018 as part of March for Our Lives, but this is the first time students have united to protest racial injustice. In the video above, those in the midst of the walkout share how and why they came together to demand change.
