Who are we?

The school newspaper at City High Middle is an innovative, student-led organization. We always welcome new members, from both middle and high school, to join this exciting project.

Why get involved?

The school newspaper provides students with a variety of opportunities to earn CAS hours, have new and interesting experiences, and learn a variety of useful skills. Members of the school newspaper team have the opportunity to write creatively in ways that may not be possible in class, as well as work with a unique team. If writing isn’t your thing, you can also get involved in other aspects of the project such as conducting interviews or working on the newspaper’s website and social media. Whatever you’re interested in, the school newspaper provides opportunities to learn more about it while working on a real-world project.

Benefits of working with us

  • Write creatively in an out of the box environment
  • Work with a unique team
  • Explore your interests through a real-world project

How to get in touch

The school newspaper is mainly run online so you don’t have to attend every meeting to get involved. If you’re interested in participating, whether you want to be an official member or simply submit a one-time piece of work talk to Ms. Hillman, our faculty sponsor, or email the newspaper at the.scrivener.chms@gmail.com to let us know you’re interested. Or if you want to see what we’re all about in person drop by any Thursday for one of our weekly meetings after school in Ms. Hillman’s third floor room.

Changes due to COVID-19

Due to the current COVID-19 shutdowns, the City Voice has moved entirely online. We are looking for any students willing to write for the newspaper during this difficult time. There are no limits on the allowed topics for the City Voice, so you can write about anything you are passionate about, although the newspaper does reserve the right to reject your article if it is inappropriate. We look forward to hearing what you have to say!
