We Don’t Talk About Bruno Becomes Longest Running Top Song From a Disney Movie

MEET BRUNO -- “Encanto” tells the tale of an extraordinary family blessed with magical gifts from super strength to the power to heal. Voiced by John Leguizamo, Bruno has been estranged from the Madrigal family for as long as Mirabel (voice of Stephanie Beatriz) can remember. Gifted with the ability to see the future, Bruno’s honest, but often doomsaying predictions proved problematic for Abuela and the rest of the family, so he disappeared, becoming the uncle no one talks about —unless, of course, they do. For someone we aren’t supposed to talk about, Bruno sure knows how to make headlines.

Disney’s hit single We Don’t Talk About Bruno has become the longest running top song from a Disney movie.

For nine weeks, the popular song has held first place in the coveted Billboard Top 100 spot.

According to Vanity Fair, Encanto currently sits atop the Billboard 200, and the song is also Billboard Hot 100’s current number one—making Encanto and its signature tune the first movie soundtrack and song since A Star Is Born and its single “Shallow” to reach number one on both charts. Only one other song from a Disney animated film has reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart: Aladdin’s “A Whole New World.” For those keeping score, “Bruno” has officially toppled Elsa too: Frozen’s “Let It Go” peaked at number five on the charts.”

The composer of the piece, Lin Manuel-Miranda, also wrote another top 10 hit: Surface Pressure, sung by Jessica Darrow. Both songs’ success can be accredited to not only how catchy they are, but the depth and global relatability factor for many people. But don’t forget, no matter how long his song is trending, don’t say a word about Bruno!
