The City Voice will be holding a competition to redesign its logo for the 2025-26 school year! Any City student using any medium (hand drawn, digitally created, etc.) is eligible to submit an entry (to this Google Form), though no content generated by AI will be eligible to win. The winner(s) will be invited to the City Voice’s pizza party on October 16th from 2:45-3:15.
We’re looking for a new logo for our website. You can see the old one below. We want something that incorporates our school mascot (the pegasus) with what we do (journalism). Your art isn’t bound to these, and doesn’t need to include both of these elements. However, strongly thematic art is generally going to preferred and more likely to win. Any size works for the art, but try to use a square-ish design for a logo and a landscape (16:9-ish) for a banner. Additionally, the art should work at a small scale.
Do not submit two totally different pieces. If we choose multiple designs they must either be from different artists or parts of the same design. If you have a simplified and complex version (e.g. a pegasus then a pegasus with more details around it) submit both and make sure one is labeled as the thumbnail and the other is a header/banner. We will (happily!) accept an artist who redesigns our thumbnail and/or logo as well as banner and/or header. The form is open to up to five designs if you have an entire portfolio for us, but this is by no means necessary.
Email fann-l@students.grps.org with any questions. Good luck and happy drawing!
(Note for handmade works: we will need the original copy to make a high quality scan for the website.)
Terms and conditions:
- Submitting your entry:
The chosen winner(s) of the competition will grant the City Voice joint ownership of the work they produce. The City Voice will have the right to use the logo in any form and for any purpose, including but not limited to its website, newsletter, and promotional material. The creator(s) of the artwork(s) is still allowed to use the piece for any purpose they so desire so long as it does not infringe on the actions of the City Voice (e.g. impersonating or stealing content).
- Eligibility of a work of art:
Any work is eligible for winning as long as it is thematic and human-created. In the case that the logo is made using digital software, there are additional rules that apply. You may not use artificial intelligence to generate a work of art in entirety or majority. If the software enables you to use AI-powered tools (e.g. background removal, generative filling), you are required to let the City Voice know so it can review the work. This does not indicate disqualification, and AI tools are not discouraged.
- Choosing a winner:
The editorial staff of the City Voice will decide a winner(s) of the competition after the October 14 deadline. The winner(s) will be notified immediately and their work will be publicized on the October 16 episode of the Pegasi News Network. They will be invited to attend the October 16 pizza party for the City Voice.
- Disqualification:
The City Voice may disqualify a piece for any reason. It may, if need be, retract the announcement of a winner for a valid reason provided. This recipient is still entitled to the benefits in section 3, but their work will not be used by the City Voice, and a new winner will be chosen immediately.
