I first learned about U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed from a friend. I could not help but notice how highly they spoke of him. Soon after that encounter, I began my own research on Abdul. As I learned more about his campaign, the more I resonated with Abdul’s message. He perfectly addresses the issues I care about. His policy initiatives align with the future Michigan deserves.

Today, Abdul El-Sayed competes for the U.S. Senate Democratic Candidacy alongside several notable Michigan politicians. This includes Congresswoman Haley Stevens, who represents our 11th Congressional District. Another frontrunner in the race is State Senator Mallory McMorrow, who represents our 8th district. These two candidates surpass Abdul in experience, however, neither are capable of improving Michigan to the same length as Abdul. Different from Stevens and McMorrow, Abdul’s priorities can actually benefit Michigan.

As an epidemiologist, Abdul understands the flaws within our healthcare system more than most. He has seen the need for universal healthcare firsthand. As a result, A major point of his campaign is the need for universal healthcare in Michigan. Another goal of Abdul’s candidacy is to ensure quality healthcare. As of right now, Michigan ranks 43rd in education across the nation. By putting Abdul on the ballot, we can work towards solving this problem. Equally important, Abdul is a firm believer in solving our current housing crisis. He promises affordability by increasing supply of modular housing in Michigan.

Outside of domestic issues, Abdul’s foreign policy beliefs are another positive of his campaign. He advocates for the end of global intervention and support of conflict in the Middle East. Abdul has repeatedly called for an end to the destruction in Gaza. Also, he has already spoken against the actions of the Trump Administration in Venezuela. More than ever, we need more politicians that believe in sensible foreign policy. Abdul’s beliefs on foreign policy.

A final talking point of Abdul’s campaign is his stance on Political Action Committees. Abdul refuses any donations from PACs or other large donors. In 2025, 95% of donations to his campaign were under $100. Abdul believes in a grassroots approach, similar to that of Mayor Zohran Mamdani in the New York City Mayoral race.

In a time when Michigan is in desperate need of reform, Abdul El-Sayed is the answer. He is a politician for the people, a true public servant. Abdul has the potential to work for policies in order to improve not only our state, but also our country.
