“Redhawks on 3! Redhawks on 3! 1! 2! 3! Redhawks!!” Is what you will be saying after every Union girl’s soccer practice.
Join us for an exciting season in which head coach Juan Zhavala and assistant coach Moses will guide the team to (hopefully) multiple games in the Conference.
At Union High School (1800 Tremont Blvd NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504), nobody is cut from the team, as you are divided into Junior Varsity and Varsity. Anyone is welcome to join the team, whether you have played soccer your whole life or have never played — you can be trained.
For time, you will practice from 5-7 PM (but be early!) and expect to have around two games per week. Practices during game season will be shorter in order to optimize recovery time. As far as location goes, as long as it’s not heavy rain/thunderstorms, expect to play on the main field or the other field (other side of the school). However, weather can be variable (classic Michigan) so if you see snow or anything above a medium rainshower, you will play in Union’s lower gym.
Bring a water bottle, running shoes, cleats, shin guards + socks, indoor shoes (just in case), black or red athletic wear (if you don’t have any of these things, they can be provided), and be prepared to have fun and beat Ottawa Hills.
