Misson Failed?

Blood, sweat, and tears went into this Arsenal dream, and it seems they may have just fallen short. Beginning the season they were far from favorites to win, or even to be title contenders. As the season progressed, win after win, Arsenal began to rise. They were defying all expectations set for them, and truly becoming one of the best teams in the league. Arsenal upset some of the best teams in the league including Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea.

At one point in time they were 11 points ahead in the title race, and then it began to go downhill. Manchester City, their main title challengers, were catching up with them. Each small mistake that Arsenal made, Manchester City would pounce. Closer and closer the title race got until it all came down to one match. Arsenal’s three matches previously had all ended in draws, so they were not in peak form. On the other hand, Manchester City were looking more of a threat than ever.

This game was potentially the title decider, and what a game it was. As soon as the game began you could see the clear focus and determination that the City team had, and the contrast of that on the Arsenal players faces. Manchester City came out of this battle victorious, and rightfully so. It was not a close contest in the slightest, and the final score was 4-1. Although Arsenal is top of the league at the moment, Manchester City have two games in hand.

Sadly, it’s looking increasingly unlikely for Arsenal to raise the coveted EPL trophy this season. However easy it is to look at the gloomy misfortunes, it is important to look at what Arsenal have achieved thus far. They have guaranteed themselves Champions League football, and solidified themselves as serious European contenders. Arsenal may have fallen from grace, but they have truly achieved a considerable amount.
