Teen Charge and Why You Should Join

As a City Student, one of the very first things that you hear about is CAS hours. I’m not sure if I speak for everyone, but personally I’ve found it very hard to get in service hours, especially during the school year thanks to City’s workload and just other extracurriculars in general. If you need some service hours and want to make a difference in your community, then look no further than Teen Charge of Wedgwood.

Teen Charge is an organization through Wedgwood which is all about empowering the youth of tomorrow. I myself have been a part of Teen Charge since 2020, and I must say that I absolutely adore working with them. In Teen Charge, you are essentially a content creator, trying to make a difference in the lives of your community, catering towards the youth and dealing with important issues and topics that the youth have. You can do basically anything, whether it be a blog, instagram graphics, tik toks, or good old fashioned YouTube videos (like me!), which is one of the greatest freedoms that I have ever experienced. They are very relaxed on due dates, so you don’t have to worry about always being consistent with uploading your media. Schedules are very flexible and so, you can always just create content whenever you have the time and can afford to.

With Teen Charge, you will not only receive a lot of service hours, but you will also be able to expand on your multimedia skills, and receive several different networking opportunities. Just a few months ago I was interviewed by Miranda of WoodTV8 about problems teens face in this day and age. Do you understand how crazy that is? Someone like Miranda is interviewing me! Additionally, Teen Charge has their own little group outings and events such as end of the year dinners and holiday parties, which are always nice in my opinion.

Thanks to teen charge, I’ve become a much better video producer and editor, and it’s helped pick up a ton of skills that are very handy to have, especially in a world where technology is constantly advancing and the future is ever changing. It’s definitely helped me in the long run and looks amazing on college apps, so if you’re willing to apply, click here! Applications are due by June 4th so apply quickly!
