When Should You Stop Trick-or-Treating? The City Voice Weighs in on All Things Halloween

Spooky season is upon us, and The City Voice is here to bring you the most important facts about Halloween. From the best Halloween movies to how the day stacks up against other holidays, our staff is ready to let you know what they think.

Are City kids going trick-or-treating?

According to our data, a majority of City students are, in fact, going out to collect candy this evening. Everyone going trick-or-treating also said they have a costume prepared and that they’d wear it to school.

Is Halloween the best holiday?

Yes. But, let’s hear everyone else’s opinion. On average, the City Voice staff rated the holiday as the fourth best of the options provided. The holidays they said were better? St. Patrick’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Cinco de Mayo, and Juneteenth all had spots above October 31st.

What’s the best Halloween movie?

Surprisingly, not many people watch movies for Halloween. I guess slasher flicks are out of style nowadays, because only one person answered the question.

When should people stop trick-or-treating?

The City Voice staff sure is opinionated, because even though I meticulously set up 12 or so options for this question, most people instead selected the ‘other’ option to scream at me their deeply held beliefs. Aside from one person saying 16 years old is the cutoff, everyone else opted to say past the teenage years. One response said only after going through undergraduate studies (oddly specific, I know), and another shouted NEVER! My thoughts? I won’t stop trick-or-treating. I’ll keep doing it until I can’t walk anymore. I’m just saying, if you refuse a 70-year-old man candy on Halloween, that’s evil!
