On December 4th, Sony released the first look into a long awaited project, Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse.
This is a sequel to Spiderman into the Spider-Verse, a 2018 movie that followed Miles Morales as he became the next Spiderman. Later joined by a slew of other “Spider people” from other universes who join together to save all of their universes. Done in a comic book animation style, the first movie stood out in animation style as well as its fun characters and engaging plot, and from what we know the sequel promises much of the same.
While the first look does not reveal much about the plot of the movie, it will follow up on the cliffhanger left in the last movie: the red and blue, probably villainous version of Spiderman known as Miguel O’Hara. He is a version of Spiderman from Nueva York with unknown motives or goals. Though I think we can expect to see these unfold in this upcoming movie as he gets more involved with Miles Morales and Gwen Stacey. I think we can expect a lot from this next movie and it should not be one to miss. Better yet this is a part one, so while that may suggest a cliffhanger waiting for us at the end, we can also expect to see a second movie someday. Part one can be expected October 7, 2022 with part two set to come out some time in 2023.
Also note that while this movie contains Marvel characters, it is not a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to the copyrights held by both Sony and Disney.
