Falcon and Winter Soldier Premier Review

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is rated TV-14 by IMDB.

Last Friday, Marvel’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier was released on Disney Plus! It follows the story of Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame living their separate, day to day lives. Sam is still saving people and trying to save his family legacy. Bucky is finding ways to cope with the past.  While on a mission, Sam stumbles upon a new, highly organized gang and he won’t be able to take them down alone. There is something bigger going on but no one is quite sure what that is yet. While we don’t know much yet, there appears to be a new villain in town. Falcon and the Winter Soldier is rated PG-13.

The first episode has set up what promises to be an excellent show! The premier does a nice job of relating to the past while beginning the start of something new, a motif that is expected to continue throughout the season. There is the start of an engaging plot that promises to grow with the show. Overall, I think the series will be a little less complicated than WandaVision and stick closer to the classic superhero, action style of storytelling. Plus, Sam and Bucky have made an iconic duo in the past so I cannot wait to see more of them. Another aspect of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and phase 4 of the MCU overall, will be seeing how life of everyday people changed after what they call “the blip.” The theme of finding a new normal is highly relevant to today. I think we can expect a show with a great plot, deeper themes, and a great cast to back it up.

Overall, I think we can expect Falcon and The Winter Soldier to deliver something great! Prior knowledge of the MCU is not necessary to enjoy the show, but does help with details and putting events into context. The first episode is available on Disney Plus with new episodes airing every Friday.
