There are a lot of awards available to authors these days, including the Hugo Awards, the Nebula Awards, and many others. So many of those awards, however, are decided from start to finish by an aloof panel of judges. Unfortunately, many of the books readers know and love never get a chance at acclaim. The annual Goodreads Choice Awards are rare in that the winners are chosen by popular vote from a large list of nominees. In fact, we have reviewed several of this year’s nonimees right here on the school newspaper website, including The Dragon Republic, the stunning sequel to R.F. Kuang’s The Poppy War, and Tiamat’s Wrath, the eighth book in The Expanse series. If you read a book this year that you think deserves recognition, join 1,214,398 others in casting your vote today. The first round of voting closes in 3 days.
